Where is Sunday School held?
All four of the classrooms are located in the Parish Hall.
Will my child always have Sunday school in the same room?
No. St. Dunstan's runs the "Rotation" program. Children are in classes based on their grade level. The class rotates each week to experience the bible story through art, games, drama and video.
How do I know which room my child goes to?
There is a sign posted on each classroom door as to which grade level will be in that room on that Sunday. There is also a sign in the Parish Hall that lists where each grade level will be.
Does Sunday School run during the church service?
No. St. Dunstan's has education hour for all ages from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Children will go to Sunday School and parents have the opportunity to take part in an adult class.
So, I pick up my child at 10:00 a.m. for church?
You can if you want. But at 9:50 a.m. all the children's Sunday School classes join together for Children's Chapel, a service held specifically for the children that includes songs they know and sing and a lesson geared to them. Children also get to take part in their service by carrying the cross, lighting candles and picking up the offering envelopes.
Does Children's Chapel take place in the church?
No. We have a room in the back of the Parish Hall set up for chapel.
When do I pick up my child from Children's Chapel?
The Children's Chapel kids are all brought into the church before communion and find their parents in order to share communion as a family. They stay in church for the remainder of the service.
Does Sunday School run year round?
No. Sunday school at St. Dunstan's follows the regular school calendar. The new year kicks off in September and finishes in June. Children's Chapel also goes on hiatus over the same period of time. During the summer months the children meet as one group called Kid's Club where they will participate in activities from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Are there any special events that the children take part in?
St. Dunstan's has many events throughout the year for the children including Celebration Sundays, an Easter Egg Hunt, and the Christmas Pageant. We also run a separate Communion class for 2nd graders on Sunday evenings from September through December and offer the Alpha Kids program that runs concurrently with our adult Alpha program on Sunday evenings.
Jennie Morse, Director of Children's Ministries, is available for any questions or clarifications you may have.
